What do Safe / Moderate / Reach mean?
Safe = comfortably inside recent closing ranks. Moderate = near the edge. Ambitious / Reach = dream picks. A healthy list has many Safes, some Moderates, and a few dream rows — not only CSE at top NITs.

JoSAA vs CSAB (simple)
- JoSAA — main counselling for IITs (Advanced) and NIT+ (Main).
- CSAB — special rounds for leftover NIT+ seats after JoSAA ends.
- Use the same list style for both; CSAB often needs more Safes.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Only filling 5–10 dream CSE options
- Putting all Safes at the very bottom
- Ignoring home-state (HS) quota for NITs
- Locking without checking the latest mock allotment
